How to Set Up a Samsung Tab a
After turning on your device the first time, you may see a setup wizard to help you set up the Samsung Galaxy Tab A.
- Make sure the battery and SIM card are inserted:
- Insert the battery
- Insert the SIM card
- If necessary, tap English and then select your desired language.
- Tap Accessibility to adjust any necessary accessibility settings.
- Tap the yellow arrow to move to the next screen.
- If desired, tap the Wi-Fi Switch to turn on Wi-Fi. Below, tap an available network to connect.
- Tap NEXT.
- Read the Terms and conditions for the End user license and tap NEXT.
- Confirm that you agree to the Terms and conditions by tapping AGREE.
- If a compatible device is available, tap the Learn more to find out more about Tap & Go to setup the phone.
- If you are not using Tap & Go, tap SKIP .
- On 'Add your account,' to log into your Google account, tap either:
- Enter your email (for exisiting)
- Enter your password, then tap Next.
- Read the 'Google & location' information and tap the ACCEPT arrow.
- On 'Get your apps & data,' select the previous device you want to restore from and select from the list of apps then tap NEXT.
- On 'Google services,' read through the Google services options and tap NEXT.
- While the phone connects to Google servers to download your information it will display a 'Restoring' screen.
- OR CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT (for new)
- If desired, enter your name in the First and Last fields.
- Tap the NEXT arrow.
- Enter in the desired username, then tap NEXT.
- Enter in the password and confirm, then tap NEXT.
- On 'Rescue info,' setup your MSISDN or select REMIND ME LATER, then tap NEXT. A confirmation will display to send a message to the entered MSISDN.
- On 'Google services,' read through the Google services options and tap NEXT.
- Once confirmed, tap NEXT.
- On 'Set up payment info,' select one of the following:
- Add credit or debit card
- Enable T-Mobile -US billing
- Redeem
- Remind me later
- Tap NEXT. Fill in the requested information, then tap NEXT.
- On 'Google services,' read through the Google services options and tap NEXT.
- Enter your email (for exisiting)
- On the 'Samsung account' screen, choose one of the following options:
- If you have a Google account, tap Sign up with Google ID. Follow the prompts
- If you have a Samsung account, tap Sign in to sign in to your account. Follow the prompts
- If you want to open a new Samsung account, tap Create new account and then follow the prompts.
- Tap Skip to log into or open a Samsung account later.
- On 'Set wake-up command,' tap Set to record your voice command to wake-up the phone or tap Later.
- On 'Add fingerprint,' tap one of the following:
- ADD to setup your fingerprint scan
- Tap CONFIRM on the Disclaimer screen.
- Follow the directions to place your finger on the Home key to begin the scan.
- If the finger is not able to be detected, a pop up asking you to move your finger will appear, tapCONTINUE.
- Once the scan is complete, enter in a backup password twice, and tap CONTINUE.
- Once the Fingerprint scan is complete, tap OK to Enable the Fingerprint lock or CANCEL to disable.
- Later to not setup the fingerprint scan
- ADD to setup your fingerprint scan
- On 'Setup complete,' select Easy mode or tap FINISH.
- On 'Device Data Collection,' check or uncheck Allow diagnostics then tap NEXT.
- On 'Connection Assistant,' tap Accept to allow or Decline to stop the collection.
- On 'Special Offers,' tap Accept to allow or Decline to stop the offers.
- When finished, your device will now open to Home screen.
- When the Smart Switch notification appears, tap Start to transfer content from an old device or Later to start the transfer at a different time. It is recommended to connect to a Wi-Fi network during the content transfer.
